COURSES - 2008
Within the second year doctoral students of the XXIII Cycle should have attended:
One course from the Second Level Degree in Astronomy or Physics, chosen among three courses proposed by the Board of Professors of the Doctoral School of Astronomy, and complementary to the courses followed in the pre-doctoral curriculum.
Four courses chosen among the basic courses organized by the School of Astronomy (two assigned by the Board of Professors, two chosen by the student).
Three monographic courses chosen among those offered every year by the PhD School of Astronomy. (All monographic courses are in any case strongly recommended).
All additional monographic courses (typically those held by visiting foreign professors) considered to be mandatory by the School Director, with certification of attendance.
The course of the Second Level Degree and the four basic courses require an evaluation exam at the end of the course.
All PhD students are requested to attend all Journal Club seminars organized by the Doctoral School once a week, from October till June. During Journal Clubs the students will discuss either recent research papers or their own research projects.
Within the third year, doctoral students must produce certificates of attendance to 4 international Schools for PhD Students on astrophysical topics of the duration of at least one week. Expenses for the participation to the Schools are sustained by the Doctoral School.
Basic Courses - 16 hours (2 CFU/ECTS credits)
Monographic Courses - 10 hours
