Seeing Monitor

[Steel tower] A steel tower is placed some 100 m East of the TNG building. It was erected in July 1993 to house a Differential Image Motion Monitor (DIMM) for seeing measurements.
A DIMM built by Istituto de Astrofisica de Canarias (IAC) was installed to begin with, but a dedicated TNG DIMM is now operating. The telescope is enclosed in a small shelter, very ligth and easy to be handled by one operator.
Regular data have been taken three or four nights every week since June 1994. Excellent seeing, at the level of 0".4 has been obtained in several occasions.
[DIMM]
[Meteo tower] A dedicated meteorological tower built near the DIMM, completes the monitoring equipment of the TNG.
